Argiope catenulata with its prey

Postby Tiomanese » 09 May 2011, 17:45

This was taken quite some years back. It was taken with handheld when I was moving in a pond at the Marina East. The pond is no longer there, so is the spider... :(

C & C are welcome!

Very nice image of a not so common St. Andrew Cross spider with a DF in distress.
Different from the other 2 more common one which is the Oval & Multi-Coloured St. Andrew Cross spider.

The spider seems to keep her catch for lunch or dinner.
Well she's not there now, probably in the marina bay sands casino :P .

Cheers..
Allan

Great moments captured but sad story for both the damsel and spider.

Great predatory shots! Both the hunter and prey are sharp :kudos thumbsup:
You should shoot macro more often now. Not very good to post images that were so long ago

I like the sharpness of the spider and the contorted shape of the prey. The bg is also very good. Good technique to get this image without a tripod.

always nice to see a prey caught in the web, it speaks volumes about the life of a spider

Nice from the past. :nyah nyah:
One predator becomes a prey.
