ankletoeknee wrote:NPSS Durian Trip 2010 Sunday 4 July 2010 (Durian mid-season in Tangkak) PLEASE NOTE: WE ARE GOING BY CARS NOW (insufficient participants to fill a coach). This durian trip is organized for NPSS members, their families and friends. (Please note, Sunday is chosen so as not to clash with the Saturday, NPSS Nature Photography Course). Some facts about durians: A durian season in any locality lasts 6 weeks. In mid-season, durians taste best and are more plentiful. Tangkak is 50km from the renowned durian town of Segamat. Tangkak and Segamat share the same hills, so, durian varieties are similar. Mount Ophir (Gunung Ledang Recreation Forest) lies between the two towns. Durian loses some flavor after being sun-scorched and wind-blown on lorries to Singapore. We go to the plantations to savor the fresher durians. Drivers will pick up their passengers then proceed to meet at the petrol kiosk located after the Malaysian Second Link Immigration Complex. - arriving there by 7:30am. Proceed to Kulairaya for breakfast. After breakfast in Kulairaya we will proceed to Tangkak. I have pre-ordered durians for eating at the plantation. And from a friendly Malay lady at her village shop. The cost will be split among those present, so will the remaining durians. We will decide on where to go after the durian feasts Cheers, Tony For a glimpse of last year’s trip, click the links: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=2051" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; http://www.flickr.com/photos/pngtony/se ... 986173424/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false;

Thanks Tony for the organization. It was indeed a "fruit"ful trip - the tau sa pao was great, the durian was yummy, the bird shoot was fun, macro subjects were easily available and even snake family came and greet us! the only thing I wish is the Juvenile White Bellied Sea Eagle can made it. will upload some photos later in the evening. Cheers, SC

Hi Want to join SC in thanking Tony for organising the trip. The company was fun and the durians were really nice but the after-taste was a little too bitter when confronted with the plight of the poor eagle .Hope there is a bird God out there watching out for it. Cheers Loong Tat

Yes indeed. We can't have 'pedigree' durians any fresher than that.
Thanks Tony for organising the trip.
Thanks Tony, SC and Loong Tat for driving us safely there and back.
Appreciate the great company and laughter we shared.
