By the way, Olive-backed Sunbird does spread across the Pacific ocean to reach northeastern Australia. Sunbirds are distributed throughout Africa, southern Asia and the northern part of Australia.
As many of you would have heard parents telling their son/daughter when you were shooting at SBG or at any local park; "hey look, that's a hummingbird".
There was a resemblance between sunbird and hummingbird due to their nectar feeding lifestyle. Most of the time sunbird perch to feed but there are some sunbirds hover like a hummingbird while feeding, Con has posted the "Crimson Hummingbird" (a new species I think
) at the link below.http://npss.org.sg/forum/viewtopic.php?f=9&t=4314
This shot were taken at the famous Yellow Saraca tree this year and also the first time I shot a Purple-throated Sunbird. Did not have many opportunities to shoot this guy when the famous tree blossom, maybe next year. Sharing here is just a record shot and I hope I will be able to get a better shot of him and his grandson standing together next year.
