Auto ISO can be a good thing to use but under certain conditions and depending on your camera model it is capped at certain ISO, I think it ranges from 100-800 ISO or even to 1600. Auto ISO is good if you do not mind the noise at high ISO setting which the camera will do when it warrants. Which means if you are on AV mode the camera controls the SS and ISO setting and will always gives you the highest SS based on the highest capped ISO setting.

Hope this helps, other experts might be able to share more.

I myself does not use Auto, since I do not like noise.

    Tze Siong,

I do not use it myself as I dun think there is a cap for my camera. On some cameras, you can set it to a max auto ISO and I guess it works if you always want a handholdable shutter speed in situations where you need quick shooting.

Im a "slow (macro and landscape) thus dun really see a need for that. :ashamed:

    Cheers

    Han
