Saw this weird looking bug at Fraser Hill at the Waterfall trail on 3 May 2009.
Only managed to have one shot after my slow setup of tripod etc, and it flew/jump away, i think due to a big crowd passing by. So pardon me for the blurred image.

It’s head looks like a cricket, with a missing leg, and it’s body has turqoise coloued rings around it.
WIngs are a bit like those of a damsel/dragonfly. Have not seen it before.
According to Wei Luen, he has seen a similar one, at FH as well.

    ID is appreciated.

    Hi Hazel,
I saw one that’s just on the other side of the stream below the waterfall. I wanted to bring it back to the other side to shoot but it flew away.

This is not uncommon in the hill region in Malaysia. Have seen and taken shots of this specie at Bukit Tinggi inside the Botanic Gardens.
