    saw this bird when i was out at punggol snapping.

    need a confirmation is it is a scarlet backed flowerpecker, because the book i’m using does not show the white tuff of feathers at its side. my book (a field guide to the birds of SEA) also mentioned the wings being black whereas it seems like in this pic the wings are blue with olive spots.

    can someone help confirm the id? thanks

    It is a Scarlet-backed Flowerpecker. Good catch. I think it is molting, hence the feathers looks slightly "beaten-up" :D . Scalet-backed Flowerpecker does have bluish black feathers on wings.
