    Hi Rasica,

Welcome to NPSS, and thank for posting with NPSS forum. I just went through your post images and found that most of them, if not all, are actually very common birds in Singapore and there are a lot of postings recently for these birds on our Avian Session. I would suggest you to read those post and get name for your birds from there. This way of study would help you to remember the name well.

Write down your results and post it here, and we can help you to double check it.

    Cheers!

    Hi,

IDing is part of the fun of birding. If you are really into birding, I will recommend to get a bird guide. These birds are very common in Singapore and you can easily ID them. To save you some time searching, here are the hints: ;)

    1) There are total 4 species of bird in your thread
    2) Species include :
    a) Yellow Vented Bulbul
    b) Crimson Sunbird
    c) Olive Backed Sunbird
    d) Little Spiderhunter

Let us know if you can match them correctly.

    Cheers,
    SC

    Hello rasika,
Welcome to NPSS. That’s quite a lot of birds you got there.
Not bad for your first post. Looks like you wasn’t using a flash.
Maybe you should try using one to fill in the shadows.
My fav is the construction worker that is building the nest :)
    Happy posting.

    Dear All,

Thanks for your kind comments. Well let me match pictures with their names.

    #1,3 & 7 – Olive Backed Sunbird (I think #1 is male)
    #2 & 4 – Yellow Vented Bulbul
    #5 – Crimson Sunbird
    #6 & 8 – Little Spiderhunter

Well my gear is 50D and 300 f4L IS
All shots are hand held. Yes fill flash would have been helped me to eliminate those shadows. Will try next time.
Thanks again for all the valuable tips.

    Cheers,
    Rasika

    Hi Rasika,

Yup, you got them all. :applause:

    #3 is a male sub-adult Olive Backed
    #4 is a Juvenile Yellow-vented Bulbul

Visited your site some nice scenery at Horton Plains. I was at Sri Lanka 2 years ago for a holiday with family and we totally enjoyed it. What a beautiful country. :kudos thumbsup:

Hope to see more postings from you.

    Cheers,
