Saw this uncommon bird at Neo Teo Lane 2 a few weeks ago. It was perching motionlessly in the drain. Almost thought it was a toy bird as it remained frozen when a group of us went near.
However, an experienced ornithologist in the group mentioned that this is the common behaviour of Rails. We were able to get within 5 meters of it and all the time it didn’t move. We took a few shots and left. On our return journey, the bird was gone.
Here’s sharing this unusual encounter with all at NPS. Let me know if you had seen a rail before and the venue so that I will look out in future.

This is more than a nature sighting for me.

If you do a google search for this bird, you will notice that Con has a gallery of this bird with chicks. Looks like they are breeding in Singapore. Just have to keep an eye out when you visit grassland areas.
