    Hi all

Taken this very common dragonfly last week. This female species is very much easier to close in than it’s male counterparts.

#1 & #2 taken at appoximately 2.5X magnification, the most frustrating part to include the entire subject inside the frame…..

#3 taken at 1X magnification, can’t resist shooting it because of the nice perch.

    C&C are welcome

    Cheers

hi YL, awesome hi-mag shots! :kudos thumbsup:

My pick is #2. Great sharpness and details on the eye. What is the approx working distance from front of your lens to the subject? :?:

    #1 I can see a cute duckling…anyone else? :D

ah Lucida, the busy body side of me made me look up the chinese dictionary:
    猩红: 象猩猩血那样的红色; 血红
    ie. "scarlet"

    Hope that helps. :Innocent:

    Hi all

Thanks for the kind comments.

And thanks Darren for the explaination of the chinese name. Most insects are named after the male counterpart, for the instant, scarlet, refer to the colour of the male.

Btw, the working distance is 2 inches away from the subject.

    Cheers

    Yan Leong,

You are always pushing the limit!! :kow tow: What amaze me is not just the high mag but the use of front curtain flash for such a shot. Great!!

    Yan Leong,

Excellent Close-up. Your reverse lens is working well. :kudos thumbsup: For #2 I will probably shift the lens slightly to the left and clone away the perch, but that just my preference.
